EDITEC is the name given to the EDIFACT subsets used in the HVAC industry. They regulate the communication of business data between wholesalers and manufacturers at the message content level. Various communication methods are used, in particular X.400, AS/2, and SHK-Mail. These have been developed and maintained for more than three decades by the ARGE Neue Medien and DG Haustechnik associations.
A large number of message types are now available. The most widely used is version 3.5, which, however, has a number of weaknesses, particularly in the interpretation of message content. The current version 4.2 offers more precise definitions and additional message types.
