ETIM BMEcat

ETIM BMEcat is a standardized exchange format for electronic product catalogs. This format enables companies to provide their product data in a structured, machine-readable form so that it can be easily imported into merchandise management systems, online shops, or procurement platforms.

Facts

Basic XML structure

The exchange format is based on an XML structure that enables data to be exchanged in a standardized form.

Uniform structure

BMEcat defines a fixed structure for catalog data. This includes products, prices, images, delivery terms, and classifications such as ETIM or eCl@ss.

Exchange of large amounts of products

The standard enables the exchange of large quantities of products between manufacturers, wholesalers, and distributors.

Typical contents of a BMEcat catalog are:

  • Product master data (article number, name, description)
  • Prices (list prices, graduated prices, currencies)
  • Media data (images, PDFs, data sheets)
  • ETIM classification
  • Logistical data (packaging units, dimensions, weight)
  • Delivery and order information

The ETIM BMEcat is defined and maintained by ETIM's “Structure and Technology” working group. It can be used free of charge.
