Extension of the ETIM classification with BIM data

As a manufacturer, you can use ETIM-MC to provide planners, architects and building owners with relevant BIM data that contains important information for the planning and execution of construction projects.

BIM stands for Building Information Modelling. It is a model-based working method for the planning, construction and management of buildings and other structures. All construction-relevant data is digitally modelled, combined and recorded. This creates a virtual, multidimensional computer model of the building. BIM is used in many areas of the construction industry, such as architecture, building services, engineering, civil engineering and facility management.

As a manufacturer, you are not only targeting wholesalers and tradespeople, but also planners and architects. They require additional geometric product data (BIM data) in order to be able to work on buildings and structures. If you already classify your data according to ETIM, you can simply add the modelling classes (MC) to it. There are one or more MC classes for each EC class, which you simply select and supply with the geometric data. As a manufacturer, you can use the ETIM BIM product data standard free of charge.

You generally benefit from the classification of your product data according to the ETIM standard. This improves the quality of your data and ensures that your products can be optimally found by planners and architects both in wholesale and when selecting for tenders.
