An ETIM classification helps you as a manufacturer to structure your products in the extensive wholesale product ranges and make them easier to find. The standardised description enables targeted access to your products via filter and search functions, particularly in digital sales channels such as the online shops of wholesalers. This makes it easier for wholesalers' back office staff and tradespeople to find your products and increases your sales potential.

For example, as a manufacturer you want to market an LED ceiling light. To make it easier for tradespeople to find this product in the wholesalers' online shops, you want to classify the luminaire according to ETIM. In an ETIM classification, each product is assigned to exactly one article class and defined with all relevant article characteristics. This means that your LED ceiling light is assigned to the ETIM article class ‘ceiling/wall light’ with the code EC002892, as each ETIM article class has an individual ID number. This ID-based classification model makes it possible to classify products unambiguously and internationally. In addition, your luminaire is now also assigned article characteristics such as socket, housing colour, dimmability or protection class. Each characteristic in turn has an individual ID number.
