ETIM Staff Unit Building Materials

ETIM is an open and freely accessible article classification system that makes it possible to describe product properties in a standardised and clear way, both nationally and internationally.

  • Selection of ETIM as the classification standard for the building materials industry.
  • 2022 Publication of the building materials sector in Germany.
  • 1,400 classes can already be used for product classification.

In 2022, the building materials sector was also published for ETIM Germany. The trading companies organised in the Data Management for Building Products in Wholesale and Retail (DPB) already decided in 2021 to select ETIM as the classification standard for the building materials sector. ETIM International has been developing the building materials sector for several years.

We at ITEK have taken on the staff position for this sector and are committed to updating and further developing this standard with the help of our members.

ETIM Classification

The ETIM classification allows the standardised presentation of the sometimes very complex product world. This makes it much easier for wholesalers to find products, create catalogues and advise customers. For the industry, it makes it easier to find their products in the huge product ranges and thus to offer them to the end customer.

ETIM Check Up

ETIM classification generally increases your sales in the wholesale online shop, among other things. With the cost-effective check-up, we analyse your product data and provide you with specific information for a possible implementation of an ETIM classification. This will give you the confidence to make a decision on the ETIM classification of your product range.

ETIM Membership

ETIM classification offers considerable advantages when finding products in large databases (e.g. shops). The standard is free to use. However, anyone wishing to participate in the development of the standard must become an ETIM member.
